Topic Overview
If you have an interest in making light in your room more than something you just flick on and off this tutorial is for you. If your child is in love with a storybook’s pictures and wants a nightlight, this tutorial is the place to be. Even if you’re just looking for unique gifts to give friends and family, you’re in the right place. This timeline will be giving you a bit of the history behind the light-bulb, a central piece of your lightbox.

Task (what will your audience be doing)
My audience will be looking at the timeline that documents some of the history of the light-bulb, learning about some of the history that made their project possible. After viewing the light-bulb timeline the audience will then do their own research to create their own timeline on some tool or portion of the lightbox. In this way they will learn historical information relevant to their everyday lives. They will also be expected to comment on the timelines of other learners, which are to be posted as comments on the Phase 3 page.

Process/Guidance (how you will create the project)
This project will be created via an internet tool that facilitates the production of timelines, (TimeGlider) and then posted on the Phase 3 page of the wiki. The research necessary for the creation of the timeline will be done via the internet and documented accordingly. (As these tools are all online and available for students to use, it should be easy for them to recreate what they see on the Phase 3 page)

Evaluation (how you will evaluate your audience)
My audience will be evaluated through an evaluation of the validity and construction of their respective timelines. They will also be evaluated based on their comments on the timelines of their fellow learners. Timelines should inform the reader of new information and at the last be factually valid.

Reflection (why did you choose to create this project)
I chose to create this project because it is not something that can easily be found on the web. It’s an interactive activity that parents and children can do together and it produces a solid end result that will make it clear whether or not the instructions have been followed properly. For parents with young children or people interested in ambient lighting, this should be an interesting tutorial. Another reason I chose to create this project specifically, was that I can build on it throughout the course of this session. With a portion specifically dedicated to auditory learners I’ll be able to expand in future projects to visual and written instructions with video, PowerPoint slides and text. When taken altogether the variety of ways in which I’ll be enabling people to learn the material I’m presenting should make it a fully comprehensive piece of instruction.
